Mark“Foot” / “Scubafoot” Broadfoot Mark received his first PADI Open Water Diver Certification in July 2002 and from that point on he was hooked. He knew after that first Cert, that he would continue diving and taking classes until he reached teaching status and maybe beyond. In July of 2005 Mark reached his Asst. Instructor certificated and stayed at this level for a couple for years; one to take the time to learn from and observe as many instructors he could but to also to find a new scuba shop home, after his old one closed, in order he could teach and learn from for the future until he moved onto his teaching certification. In July of 2007 Mark found a new home with Gigglin Marlin and at that time he knew this was the place he wanted to teach. In February of 2008 Mark received his PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Certification, and has enjoyed every student and every class since. Mark philosophy is he is teaching each diver to start diving and he is giving him or her the keys to an adventure to places that many in dividuals will never see, so go out there and dive. In his pursuit to be an instructor he has received certifications in Nitrox Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy , AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty and a Scientific Courses Certification to dive in San Marcus. Also Mark has become an American Heart Association CPR instructor and will continue to get more specialties as he continue to dives.
Some of his favorite dives are not so much the location but of the things that he my see or the animals he encounters. Each Ship or a Wreck is a reason to stop and think of the history of what you are about to see or have just seen, this also it gives him a chance to take a picture and learn more about the history when he is out of the water. This type of experience is a way for a diver to take the diving experience beyond the water. Wrecks are his histories experience but there are also the animals, which are another wonderful experience. An example is a Turtle; a Turtle out of the water is such a clumsy animal and not made to natural walk on land. now take that same Turtle and put it in the water, it becomes such a graceful animal. Without diving Mark will tell you that experience is only something he would have seen in an Aquarium, but now he can see when he enters the world of diving.
Away from Diving Mark works for Shell Oil as a recruiter for the Exploration and Production division. He received his bachelor's degree from The University of North Texas in 1991 in Radio, Television and Film. When not diving he enjoys spending time with his wife, (yes a diver), playing golf, running, and spending time with his three wonderful Labradors , Bailey, Bama and Spooner. |
